About Khao Lak

We have been doing some spring cleaning around here. This is an updated page for our About Khao Lak Page...

A popular beach resort situated on the Andaman coast of Southwestern Thailand, Khao Lak is a perfect holiday location for families and those looking for a more relaxed and peaceful destination.
Named after the national park Khao Lak-Lam Ru, which was declared a national park in August 1991 Khao Lak covers a vast area of 150 sq.km and encompasses the Amphoe (districts) of Amphoe Thai Muang, Amphoe Kapong, Amphoe Takua Pa and Amphoe Muang.
The area usually refered to as Khao Lak is actually a string of beaches stretched along the Andaman Coast (Khao Lak, Nang Thong, Bang Niang)
Untouched by mass tourism with pristine beaches, lush dense jungle, and clear waters it is a breathtakingly beautiful location and serves as the gateway to the Similan Islands National Park Reef and Surin Islands National Park Reef.
There are many waterfalls in and around Khao Lak – in Khao Lak Lamru, Khao Lam Pi, Sri Phang Nga and Khao Sok National parks respectively, and they're all within easy reach from the beaches.
