Komodo Liveaboard Trip Report May

New day and a new trip for our Komodo Liveaboard aboard the Jaya. And it was a trip full of friends and family. A family from Japan; Aaron, Angelica, Arthur and Rumi. Family from Oz, David an Daniel. Group of friends from Czech; Jan, Jan, Pavel, Helena and Renata. And we had Liz from Oz who became part of the Wicked family soon enough. The staff on board was Diego, Massimo, Stanis and Mickey and DMT's Ben and Marc.
Because we just had full moon the currents were going to be great. According the tides charts we were suppost to have a tidal difference of 3 meter at some point. That means that there will be very strong current, so many fishes!

First dive was Sabauyr we arrived a little late so we ended up on a sunset dive which the sunset was really beautiful after we came up. After dinner, most people wanted to go to sleep because they all arrived in Indonesia that day or the day before. So jet lag was working.

First morning we dived Batu Bolong. And yeah it was fishy! Fish everywhere we didn't had much time to look for small stuff the show was just going and going. To calm down from that one we did a easy going reef dive in the north of the National park. We found a pink Anemone and some cuttlefish. Just relaxation and easy going.

Third dive of the day was the Cauldron for some more excitement. Just after we jumped in a school of Bumphead parrotfish then a school of snapper a bit further in the channel some of the biggest Jacks and Trevellies around. Then some sharks hanging around just before the entrance. And after that it was just flying with the currents and kick a little until the reefs. So yeah that was exciting and fishy.

We finished the day with a beautiful sunset from the viewpoint of Gili Kawa Darat and some beach cleaning. Fun times for all - and much appreciation!!!

Next day the first dive was on castle rock. And there was no need to move around! It was great to hang in the split area and watch to amount of fish. There were just too many. and everything was there, schooling snapper, banner fish, fusliers, surgeon fish. About 5 sharks hanging around and a baby white tip who was smaller then the giant Barracuda. And the giant Trevally where scary big when they come up close. And between all that action People even found time to look at nudi's and ribbon eels as well.

Second dive was the Passage. there is just no ending for the amount of fish and currents. Another fishy dive and flying current. Team Japan went for a drift snorkel. And it was so much fun they went three times through the passage.

Dive three was the lighthouse with surprising currents and fish. It nearly sound boring it is just so much fun and so cool to watch. Big school of batfish hanging around and that was beautiful. More ribbon eels and some leafy fish to end the dive with.

Night dive was at Lawa Darat. Crazy worms swimming into the lights they were real big and kept following the light.

Last dive of the trip was at Makassar. Current check done by drift divers Angelica and Arthur and they said it was gonna be a real drift. And the current was strong! It was a proper super man ride and every body saw Manta Rays and some even

saw quite a few together feeding and some other groups saw a few ones being cleaned. All together it was just great.

And unfortunately after that it was heading back and saying our goodbyes to team Czech.

Thanks to everyone for joining us!
