Komodo Liveaboard Trip Report: March 19th, 2013

Another three Day three night trip was ready to go. We welcomed guest, Donna, Dimiti and Rikki from Australia, Natalie and Arnoud from France, Lonneke from Holland, Maria from Puerto Rico and Darryn from South Africa. Welcome aboard!!!

Our dive guides on this Komodo Liveaboard were Marcel, Jo and Mickey.

The very first dive was already a great one - with ll guides got excited about a very beautiful adolescent harlequin sweetlip. After that we had a tasty dinner from our cook and a early night to get ready for a very Wicked hardcore four days of diving. :)

In the morning, our first dive was on the always exciting Crystal Bommie. For Marcel and his tank it was a very exciting start of ten dive. Lets say we some some more bubbles that we would have liked too....  Well done Marcel That you brought youre group and yourself up without a problem!!!

Once every one was in the water it was a beautiful Komodo dive with sharks, big trevallies, big schools of fuseliers and unbelievable amounts of other fish. It was à perfect start of the day. Then we follewed with The Lighthouse, the corals up there are just amezing. And super-guest Darryn even found a frogfish! Well done  Darryn and thank you on behalf of all the dive guides!

Then we dived Karang Makassar and thats another exciting dive for The big stuff. Just before we got into the water we got treated to a very big a manta breaching right on the surface - what a welcome and a promise for the dive!!!
And for sure we saw them...Straight after we got into the water they were there...Jo's group even saw six of them in a chain passing by.

Wow!!! What a great first day of diving!

Then it was time to set foot on land. We took the dinghy out to The beach. Perfect timing because The manta's were out there as well. Dimiti saw another Manta breaching the surface...again! Lucky girl!

After a beautiful sunset we all got ready for a nightdive. Lots of things to see, ghostpipefish, upsidedown jellyfish, cuttlefish and much more. The water was so smooth and clear - that from about 5 meters of depth you could see the stars in the sky. It was just perfect!

Next morning we all got ready for Siaba Kecil. Here there can be strong currents and for one of the guest it was an interesting dive :)  She lost one of her fins  before we even started the dive. It was a 45 min rescue but dinghy driver Heri saved the fin in the end. Thank you for that one Heri, you made Donna very happy. She even changed your name into "Hero" ;).

After that Tatawa Kecil for some more current fun. As soon as we arrived we had manta's all over on the surface. And during the dive we did get to see quite a few of them.

Rikki had a good time as well. She didnt dive but she was taken by the "Hero" in the dinghy for a drive around the Manta Rays. And she saw more then all of us underwater!. She saw even more manta's breaching the surface!

To these guests is just looked like its normal that Manta's breach the surface all the time. But some guides who been around for over a year haven't seen any near this much...and we're very pleased :)

Next dive was on Batu Bolong. And you just need at least one pair extra eyes to see everything on that dive! So many fish, so much life...yummy!

Last dive of the trip was Tatawa Besar for a great drift. We flew past sharks, turtles schools of fish and not to forget about the beautiful orange soft corals and the staghorn coral in the end of the dive.

And then it was time to go back to land. Saying goodbye to some of our guest and let the other guest have a wonder around the beautiful toen of Labuan Bajo. Thank you all for the trip guys its been Wicked!
