The end of the war!

A few weeks back we suffered one of the nightmares that any hotelier, dive operator or cruise ship fears....bed bugs.

A great big Eww.......!

We first came to be annoyed by them, then fear them, then in awe of their resilience and finally we came to hate them with a deep venom that came from the depths of the earth. Grrrr.....

We did everything we could, from cleaning the boat top to bottom to changing all the sheets and mattresses. We used bug spray, prayers and traditional remedies to get rid of them. But they came back.

We had to change boats and eventually we cancelled three trips while we took the Jaya offline and attacked with all guns firing.

Eventually we tracked down the only place in Thailand that had the right process for killing these beasts. They had to drive a few hundred miles, dressed up in special suits, carry a special pot of special chemicals and seal off the boat for 24 hours (we don't know if they came the whole way dressed in the suits, or only put them on when they arrived). They also offered a guarantee on their work and will come back and do the same again should any reappear.

But we did it. More than a week later there has not been a single hint of them damn beasts. And we all breathe a sigh of relief. Should this ever happen again - we know to hit them hard and fast - take no prisoners!

To the guests that got to encounter this particular species - we appreciated your patience and tolerance. And to secret men in their little suits - thank you!
