Similan National Park - opening dates

Howdy all!!

Over the past years there has been some confusion and rumors over the opening and closing dates (if any) of the Similan National Park.
The "official" dates were November 15th until May 15th of each year. During the period when the park was closed, dive operators and fisherman were able to pay a "fine" equivalent to the park fee, but only in cash and only to the park rangers.

This year things have changed. With a new director of the park and staff who seem to care, it looks like the park will be closed until November 1st. No excuses. That's great! It takes the stress off the coral reefs and marine life and it also makes all the dive operators consider their business model (use, use, use and use).

So while it may hamper your plans, please look at it as a good thing - more fish, better coral.

Until that time, we are still offering local wreck dives, lake diving and trips to to Phi Phi and beyond.
