Labuan Bajo Tips....

Erik,

Our recent Divemaster Graduate, thought he'd share some tips on eating around town.

There are quite a few places to eat at here in Labuan Bajo, being cheap local Indonesian food or the
more expensive restaurants serving both Indonesian and western.

The local food is really good and there are plenty of 'warungs' to choose from just along the main
road around Labuan Bajo. I haven't had time to try them all but they all have their special touches to
each dish. I do of course have a favourite, named Garuda just opposite the road to the ATMs. What
really make them stand out are their perkedel (fried potato cakes) and the chicken. So if you're
around Labuan Bajo head over there and try it out.

Out of the restaurants I have two favourites, The Lounge and Made in Italy.

The Lounge is probably the place I go to the most. It's more relaxed and you can spend several ours
there on the sofas that go all along the sides, make sure to enjoy a cold drink and watch the sunset
while listening to some music or chatting with friends or other divers. The staff are super friendly
and the food is very good. They have massive burgers, amazing fish cakes and my favourite, the
chicken calzone.

If its authentic Italian food you're after head to Made in Italy. Most famous for their stone oven
pizzas. They also serve great antipasti (starters) and pasta. Italy is a great place for both small
and big groups of people, Marco, the owner, and the staff are real friendly. Also make sure to try
Marcos home made limoncello.
