Komodo Liveaboard June 22nd, 2012

The Jaya sailed off again for another 3 day, 3 night adventure in the Komodo national park on 22nd June. Accompanying dive crew Scott, Diego, Jo, Oli and DMT Linda were guests Jodi, Elaine, Thomas, Alena, Krystal, Thomas, Wayne, Fion, Eric, Claire, Anne Claire, Alexis.

The trip took in some of Komodo’s famed dive sites such as The Passage, Crystal Bommie and Karang Makassar and our guests were treated to an array of marine life encounters. Fauna both huge and tiny was spotted; mantas, white tips, black tips, green and hawksbill turtles, eagle rays, huge napoleon wrasse, thorny back rays, robust, Spanish dancer, Papuan cuttlefish, juvenile rockmover wrasse, a huge pluerobranch and the biggest blue dragon nudibranch that Scott had ever seen.

Linda gave her first dive site briefing as part of her Komodo divemaster course and whipped the divers into a frenzy of excitement with her tales of the dive site. Claire completed her deep dive with Diego allowing her to surpass the Open Water depth limit of 18m and Anne-Claire received her Advanced certification. Congratulations to you all ladies.

On the second day, after snorkeling  at Tatawa Kecil, Scott and Linda found that the current at was a little too strong for the group to dive safely, so instead they took the team for an extreme snorkel session on the fast flowing surface ‘river’. Many turtles were spotted, some of the fastest moving the group had ever seen, and an exhilarating time was had by all.

Thanks to everyone for coming along and joining us on this adventure. We hope to see you again soon.
