Recompression Chamber opening in phuket

Last night was the official opening of the new hyperbaric chamber clinic in Phuket. Located right inside Phuket International Hospital and designed specifically with diving emergencies in mind. This is ONLY multiplace chamber in an ISO certified hospital in Thailand. That means - the ability to treat more than one persona at a time, a whole range of qualified doctors, medical staff
and facilities on hand in case of complications.

The only time you'll ever see alcohol or untrained staff inside the facility!

The reason I mention this - there are two other chambers in Phuket. One is a large chamber, similar to ours. But it is in a government owned and operated hospital. While still able to deliver quality service - there are no staff on hand familiar with the intricacies of insurance, immigration or even special diets.

The other chamber is a Monoplace. Also known in the industry as a "coffin". These are designed only for one person and never intended to be used for treating diving injuries. they are designed for geriatric and cosmetic surgery patients. As only one person can be inside, there is no one there to help if anything should go wrong.

Located in the Heart of Phuket, transport and treatments for us - Khao Lak and the Similan Islands - is much more convenient and rapid.

In addition - and more on this next week - we have our own clinic and ambulance right here in Khao Lak! That means immediate and direct transportation with qualified dive medics on hand (I should mention that I am one of them). In working with dive shops, the National Park and Phuket International Hospital - Khao Lak, The Similan Islands and the whole diving community is going to be better served and much much safer!

Hurrah!!!!
